Once again I find myself coming back to this blog only to apologise for not updating. It’s not that I haven’t been drawing; quite the contrary, I’ve drawn quite a bit since December when I last posted, I admit I forgot about this blog!
Recently I had a blog clean-up, and deleted my Tumblr art blog. I didn’t realise that my old, old art sketches (from when I first started) were only on that blog, so now I don’t have them anywhere online, so I’m going to start backlogging them on this blog, so I have everything all in order.
So today I’ll be posting a few of those backlogs, some of which are from the last week or so! Watch this space!
Yesterday I decided to sketch an OC that was floating in my head and kinda needed to be down on paper. Since I have a thing for drawing slightly punky chicks with weird haircuts and a bad sense of style, I drew this gal:
I had a blast drawing it, and was really happy with the final product; drawing full bodied sketches is something I’ve neglected of late (I’m becoming more comfortable with head/shoulder images, as I can draw now without the guidelines as much, so I have a bad habit of sticking with what I can do, rather than working on what I can’t do).
So today I decide: let’s draw some more full-bodied stuff. Let’s experiment, try some poses. So I think, okay, I’ll draw the above girl but with her arms folded. I got as far as the rough sketch stage, and it kind of turned out like this:
Granted, with a little refining the body in general could turn out much better. But those damn arms… You’ve no idea how long it took to get the arms even looking like THAT (yes, they were worse before!).
Something to work on, I guess. A New Year’s Resolution for my arty skills, as it were.
(I think I earn some points for the bunny slippers, no?)
Okay, so I haven’t even visited this blog since September, let alone updated it, oops!
In brief: I’ve still been drawing, and improving, just not blogging about it. So it’s time to start up again to properly monitor my progress (I kinda got lazy with it, and only drew what I knew I could, so I felt for a bit I didn’t improve).
I’m going to be working on a new banner for a friend’s YouTube channel (and my own – not a very good art blog with a default banner on, eh?), and I’ve also gotta redo the banner to this, because whilst at the time I felt the banner suited my abilities, I look at it now and it looks like poop.
So if you’re still following this blog, check back shortly as there will be some new art soon! Until then, here’s a couple of sketches of Solid Gold Death Mask fan art I did in the last couple days:
Since I already have my Tumblr to showcase my art, I’ve decided that this blog needs something a little more in order to differentiate it.
So I’ve decided to add some new features, such as anime reviews, featured fan art, videos, fan trailers, cosplay and other anime/manga-related stuff!
This may well involve moving the blog to a self-hosted platform (WordPress do their own thing, but it’s far, far too expensive compared to the platform I’d have if I bought elsewhere), so if you’re a follower of this blog, watch this space!
And here is the video of me drawing it:
So I wanted to draw a picture of Lucy when she’s in Nyuu mode, so here it is! I have a piece in mind that’s like both of them in one picture, but I haven’t the brainpower to draw that today!
